AKRON, OH — U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded a grant of $1,432,607 to Community Action Akron Summit. This grant will support the Summit County Head Start program.
“Head Start has long been a cornerstone of early childhood education and development, supporting children and families all over the nation. Therefore, it’s with great pleasure that I announce this $1,432,607 award to Community Action,” said Rep. Sykes. “This grant demonstrates our commitment to investing in the future of our children and ensuring that every child, regardless of their zipcode, receives a quality education and the opportunity to succeed.”
Community Action is the grantee agency of the Summit County Head Start/Early Head Start Program. The Head Start Program provides high-quality early childhood education to infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.
This substantial funding will strengthen Community Action’s capacity to provide high-quality education services to the most vulnerable members of our community.
