Rep. Sykes Announces 2023 Congressional Art Competition Winner
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Strong Sykes (OH-13) announced Braewyn Hammontree, an 11th grader from Woodridge High School, as the winner of the 2023 Congressional Art Competition for Ohio’s 13th Congressional District. The winning piece, titled “Französischer Dom,” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside artwork from every Congressional District across the country.
“I’m pleased to announce Braewyn Hammontree from Woodridge High School as the winner of the 2023 Congressional Art Competition for Ohio’s 13th District. Braewyn’s work brilliantly showcases the incredible artistic talent of our community. I am excited to see this piece of Ohio 13 artwork proudly displayed on the walls of the United States Capitol. Thank you to every high school student who entered this competition — I can’t wait to see what you create next!” said Rep. Sykes.
The annual competition is open to all high school students. The runners-up included Lyndsey Stephens of Twinsburg Public High School and Phoenix Walker of Norton High School, who placed second and third, respectively.
