Rep. Sykes Announces 2023 Congressional Readers Club
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Strong Sykes (OH-13) announced the inaugural summer Congressional Readers Club, open to K-12 students in Ohio’s 13th Congressional District. Students will have until August 7 to read at least 10 books of their choosing. Rep. Sykes’s office has partnered with the Stark and Summit County Libraries to provide a suggested list of books, but students are not limited to these recommendations.
“I’m excited to announce the Congressional Readers Club for Ohio’s 13th District. Reading fosters creativity, imagination, and a lifelong love for learning. My hope is that the Congressional Readers Club will unite and inspire young readers in our community, all while improving their reading and comprehension skills,” said Rep. Sykes.
Rep. Sykes’s office will send participating students a book log sheet and additional information, including deadlines and information on how to submit the student’s finished book list. Students can find the suggested books at local schools, libraries, early childhood centers, and community centers.
All participants will be invited to a special celebration with Rep. Sykes in August, and each student who participates in the Congressional Readers Club will receive a special certificate of recognition from the Congresswoman. Students must have a parent or guardian complete a permission form to participate.
