Rep. Sykes Announces $57,000 in Federal Funding to East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation Inc. to Support Affordable Housing, Economic Opportunity
AKRON, Ohio —U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) announced that NeighborWorks America awarded East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation Inc. (EANDC) $57,000 in funding to expand affordable housing development, strengthening communities in Ohio’s 13th Congressional District. This is in addition to $50,000 that was awarded to the corporation earlier this year.
“I am pleased to announce this funding, which will help expand access to affordable housing and drive economic growth across the district. ” said Rep. Sykes. “This grant will support the people of Ohio's 13th Congressional District by making affordable housing more accessible, revitalizing and sustaining neighborhoods, and creating key job opportunities.”
These funds will be used to catalyze efforts to lower the cost of housing, expand the nation’s housing supply, spark economic opportunities and development, revitalize and sustain neighborhoods, build stronger and safer communities, and create jobs in Ohio.
“The EANDC Board and I are pleased that Congress recognizes the commitment of all NeighborWorks America agencies to the American Dream of safe and affordable Housing and good communities. With the disbursement of these funds to our agency this year we will help at least 10 families own homes of their own, 200 families learn about home ownership, and continue to provide 650 families and veterans with housing units in Stark and Summit Counties. Collectively, agencies like ours help invest over $7 Billion in America’s economy,” said East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation Inc. President & CEO Cheryl Stephens.
