Rep. Sykes Attends Israeli President Herzog’s Address To Congress
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Strong Sykes (OH-13) attended Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s address to a Joint Meeting of Congress. Rep. Sykes was joined by guest Joe Kanfer, the current Venturer and former chairman and CEO of Akron-based GOJO Industries, Inc. who is active in local and national Jewish affairs, including serving as a past Chair of the Jewish Federations of North America.
“I was pleased to attend President Herzog’s address today with my guest, Mr. Kanfer,” said Rep. Sykes. “As Israel commemorates its 75th anniversary, this address is an opportunity to reflect upon the enduring bond between our two nations, while also looking ahead to the future to identify ways we can continue to work together to promote peace, democracy, and prosperity around the globe. Israel is our most important ally in the Middle East, and I am committed to strengthening this relationship to enhance the security of the United States and Israel, and to ensure all Israelis and Jewish Americans can live with safety and security.”
On Tuesday, Rep. Sykes voted in support of H. Con. Res. 57, legislation to condemn anti-Semitism and reaffirm support to Israel. H. Con. Res. 57 passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support.
