Rep. Sykes Secures More Than $1.1 Million For the Akron-Canton Regional Airport
AKRON, OH — Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) announced the Federal Aviation Administration awarded the Akron-Canton Regional Airport (CAK) $1,124,217 for infrastructure upgrades to the airport. CAK will contribute an additional $124,913, for a total of $1,249,130.
“The Akron-Canton Regional Airport is an important economic driver in Northeast Ohio, and these funds will ensure this airport can continue to grow and serve our community safely and efficiently. I will continue working to bring federal funding home to Ohio’s 13th Congressional District to upgrade our infrastructure, thereby bolstering our economy,” said Rep. Sykes.

This project replaces the existing secondary windcones that have reached the end of their useful lives and reconstructs the glycol tanks for a public use deicing containment facility that have also reached the end of their useful life. Additionally, this will fund the replacement of existing Runway 1/19 sensors that have reached the end of their useful lives. This grant also funds phase 1, the design of a project that will rehabilitate 7,601 feet of existing paved Runway 1/19 to maintain the structural integrity and minimize foreign object debris to extend its useful life.
