6:00 PM - 6:45 PM
Join Rep. Sykes for information on how the government shutdown may impact you.
About The Event
Congresswoman Emilia Sykes warmly invites you to participate in a Call With Your Congresswoman to discuss the Republican healthcare crisis that has led to a government shutdown. Rep. Sykes is fighting to extend Affordable Care Act (ACA) Premium tax credits to keep monthly healthcare premiums low, reopen the government, and protect SNAP benefits and pay servicemembers during the shutdown. Congresswoman Sykes will host the call at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 2. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the call.
Congresswoman Sykes is fighting to keep healthcare costs low for thousands of Ohioans, despite Republicans' refusal to extend the ACA Premium Tax Credits, which are set to expire at the end of this year if they are not extended.
In Ohio’s 13th District, 32,000 people are covered by ACA healthcare plans. Of those, 29,000, or 90%, of people who receive healthcare coverage through the ACA utilize Premium Tax Credits to keep their monthly premiums low. If these tax credits are allowed to expire at the end of this year, monthly premiums will skyrocket an average of $720 annually.
Republicans control the U.S. House, Senate, and White House. They must come to the negotiating table to work with Democrats to extend critical ACA Premium Tax Credits and reopen the government.
