Sykes Hosts annual Elected Officials Breakfast
CUYAHOGA FALLS — On Jan. 29, U.S. Rep. Emilia Sykes (D-District 13) hosted a roundtable with elected officials from across Ohio’s 13th Congressional District to discuss local issues, foster collaboration between local, state and federal governments, and provide an update on her legislative activity in Washington, D.C.
“Local government leaders have a unique understanding of the issues our constituents face every day,” Sykes said in a press release. “Hosting these roundtable conversations encourages cooperation, collaboration and information sharing throughout all levels of government, so that our constituents can receive the exceptional service they deserve. I’ll continue hosting events like these to reconnect our communities to Congress and provide essential support to our local governments.”
During the roundtable, participants discussed updates from Washington, D.C., the federal appropriations process and the positive impact federal funds have on the lives of people in our communities, according to Sykes’ office. Additionally, participants asked questions about federal funding, Immigration and Customs Enforcement activities, attacks on public education, federal resources for infrastructure projects, and how to best work together as elected officials.
“Opportunities like the Elected Officials Breakfast are invaluable, bringing local leaders together with Congresswoman Sykes for meaningful dialogue about the challenges facing our communities,” added Cuyahoga Falls Mayor Don Walter in the release. “These conversations strengthen collaboration across all levels of government and help ensure that we are delivering the best possible service to our residents.”
