House Science, Space, and Technology Committee Passes Rep. Sykes’ Bipartisan Legislation To Create NASA Talent Exchange Program

Legislation would advance innovation, increase collaboration between aerospace industry and NASA

WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee passed the NASA Reauthorization Act of 2024. This bill was amended to include Rep. Sykes’ NASA Talent Exchange Program Act, bipartisan legislation to spur innovation and foster partnership between the aerospace industry and NASA by assigning NASA employees to temporary industry posts and welcoming industry professionals into NASA for short term positions. The legislation will establish the Public Private Talent Exchange Program (PPTE) within NASA to help partnership opportunities between government and aerospace businesses.

“The NASA Talent Exchange Program would increase collaboration between the public and private sector, encouraging the exchange of technical expertise and best practices in aeronautics. These partnerships will be key in ensuring America’s aerospace industry remains the best and most innovative in the world. I am grateful for the bipartisan support from my fellow members on the House Science, Space, Technology Committee, and I look forward to final passage of this legislation by the full House of Representatives,” said Rep. Sykes.

The NASA Reauthorization Act now proceeds to the full House of Representatives for consideration.
