“Receiving these FEMA awards is tremendous news for the Canal Fulton community and our regional fire service,” said Shawn Yerian, Fire Chief of the Canal Fulton – Lawrence Township Fire Department. “The funding will allow us to replace outdated fire hose that our firefighters rely on every day, while also providing a new fire extinguisher training system that addresses one of the most frequent safety-training requests we receive from local businesses.

“These are important investments in both firefighter safety and community education, and they are projects we would not have been able to move forward with at this time without federal assistance. We are extremely grateful for Congresswoman Sykes' support of our applications and her continued support of local fire and EMS services. Her assistance helped make it possible for us to bring these resources back to the community we serve.”

Congresswoman Sykes congratulates Chief Yerian and the entire Canal Fulton - Lawrence Township Fire Department on these awards and thanks them for their service to the community.
