Rep. Sykes Announces $615,120 To Support Safe Streets And Roads For All In Ohio’s 13th Congressional District
AKRON, OH - Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) announced the U.S Department of Transportation has awarded two Safe Streets and Roads for All grants totaling $615,120 to Ohio’s 13th Congressional District. The grants, made possible through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will provide funding to support safer roads, intersections, pedestrian crossing, and streets throughout our communities.
“I’ve worked hard to secure millions of dollars in funding to improve the quality of life in our communities. Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, these critical funds will help make our streets safer for pedestrians and motorists. As the only Ohioan on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I’ll continue working to bring more of these essential funds back to Northeast Ohio,” said Rep. Sykes.
“The City of Fairlawn is excited to continue its partnership with Congresswoman Emilia Sykes’ office with the recent award for Safe Streets for All to improve traffic and pedestrian safety along W. Market Street. We are grateful to have this opportunity to improve our transportation corridors,” said City of Fairlawn Mayor Russell T. Sharnsky.
The grant recipients and award amounts are listed below:
- $280,000 to the City of Akron to conduct a study to improve its roadways with a high concentration of accidents
- $335,120 to the City of Fairlawn to update their action plan to make pedestrian signals and crosswalks safer
