Rep. Sykes Announces Over $1.7 million in Federal Funding for Health Care Services in OH-13

AKRON, OH —U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded two grants totaling $1,755,827 for organizations in Ohio’s 13th Congressional District through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

“As someone who has dedicated their career to public health, it is one of my top priorities to ensure Ohioans in the 13th Congressional District are healthy and safe. This starts with ensuring our health care providers have the basic tools and funding they need to provide care to our community. I remain committed to ensuring all Ohioans can access high-quality, affordable health care, and will continue to advocate for our community and bring back vital funding to improve the quality of life for our region,” said Rep. Sykes.

Axesspointe Community Health Center will receive $1,430,827 to expand some of its services in Summit, Portage, Trumbull, and Mahoning Counties, including medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and optometry.

“We are grateful to receive this HRSA Service Area Competition award, which allows us to continue providing comprehensive, high-quality healthcare services, including medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and optometry. With this funding, we can expand access to essential care for those who need it most across our service area of Trumbull, Summit, Portage, and Mahoning counties. This award strengthens our commitment to improving health equity and serving our patients with compassion and excellence,” said Mark Frisone, executive director of Axess Family Services.

My Community Health Center will receive $350,000 to provide various healthcare services throughout the community, including primary care, behavioral health, preventative screenings, and more.
