Rep. Sykes Celebrates Historic UPS-Teamsters Labor Deal
WASHINGTON, D.C.— U.S. Representative Emilia Strong Sykes (OH-13) issued a statement after United Parcel Service (UPS) and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters reached a tentative agreement on a new contract. The historic deal would raise wages for all workers, create more full-time jobs, and includes dozens of workplace protections and improvements.
“Congratulations to the 340,000 Teamsters at UPS, particularly the workers in Ohio’s 13th District, on this historic contract, which is a game changer for these workers and their families. This deal will ensure workers receive the fair wages and safe working conditions they deserve. I was proud to join my Labor Caucus colleagues in reaffirming my constituents’ right to collectively bargain, and I will always stand with workers to support higher wages, safer working conditions, and better benefits,” said Rep. Sykes.
Last week, Rep. Sykes joined a bipartisan group of more than 170 Members of Congress to send a bipartisan letter supporting collective bargaining rights in the UPS-Teamsters negotiations.
