Rep. Sykes Delivers Federal Funding for Safer Streets, Cleaner Water, and Local Jobs in OH-13

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representatives Emilia Sykes (OH-13) voted today in favor of a three-bill FY26 appropriations minibus covering the Commerce, Justice and Science; Energy and Water; and Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies appropriations bills, ensuring critical federal resources reach communities across Ohio’s 13th Congressional District.

“These funds are our tax dollars that have historically been allocated all over the country,” said Rep. Sykes. “I am proud to have ensured that our money returns to our community.”

OH-13 Highlights:

  • Barberton Justice Center: $1.03M to upgrade police technology and security systems.
  • Peninsula Sewer Facilities: $1.09M to improve sanitary sewer infrastructure in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
  • Cuyahoga Falls Water Plant: $1.09M to modernize century-old water treatment systems.
  • Silver Lake Water Main: $725K to connect isolated systems for better water access and fire protection.
  • Support for Jobs & Innovation: Billions in funding for NASA, NSF, and NOAA that supports research in OH-13.
  • Water & Environment: $2.8B for clean water projects, $3.3B for National Park Service, and $4.4B for State and Tribal Assistance Grants.

The House has now passed six of the 12 annual FY26 appropriations bills. These three bills still need Senate approval and the president’s signature, along with the remaining six, by January 30 to avoid another government shutdown.
