Rep. Sykes Secures Over $2.7 Million To Improve Akron-Canton Regional Airport
CANTON, OH — Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) announced the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded a $2,703,150 grant to the Akron-Canton Regional Airport to improve lighting on Runway 1/19.
“The Akron-Canton Regional Airport is an important economic driver in Northeast Ohio, and these funds will ensure this airport can continue to grow and serve our community safely and efficiently,” said Rep. Sykes. “I will continue to advocate for our community and bring back vital funding to improve the quality of life for our region.”
This funding is part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program, which provides grants to public agencies for the planning and development of public-use airports. Eligible projects include those improvements related to enhancing airport safety, capacity, security, and environmental concerns.
