Rep. Sykes Statement on the Passing of Former Ohio Speaker of the House Jo Ann Davidson
Akron, OH - U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) released the following statement recognizing former Ohio Speaker of the House Jo Ann Davidson, who was the first woman to be elected to this position.
“Jo Ann Davidson was a trailblazer whose service to her community and our state spanned decades. From her time serving as a Reynoldsburg City Council member to being elected as the first woman to serve as Speaker of the Ohio House, Speaker Davidson’s commitment to service was evident and earned her numerous honors, including being named Legislator of the Year. I will continue to keep her family and loved ones in my thoughts as they honor her extraordinary life. Though Speaker Davison and I did not share the same political party affiliation, we shared a dedication to bettering the communities we represent, and I will remember her example, and her advice, fondly for many years to come.”
