Congresswoman Eager to Continue Serving her Community

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) issued the following statement upon being officially sworn into office serving the people of Ohio’s 13th Congressional District in the 119th Congress.

“It is an honor and a blessing to serve the people of Ohio’s 13th District and I am eager to work with anyone, regardless of political party, to deliver lower costs, improved public safety, and affordable, accessible health care,” said Rep. Sykes. “This body, when we are focused on governance – rather than politics – is more than capable of delivering for the American public.”

This Congress, Rep. Sykes will serve as Vice Chair of the Democratic Women’s Caucus, Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Women’s Caucus, and Vice Chair of the New Democrat Coalition Affordable Housing Taskforce.

Rep. Sykes became the first Black person elected to represent Ohio’s 13th Congressional District in 2022. In Congress, she’s fought for economic opportunity, affordable health care, and reproductive health care, including leading an effort to reaffirm emergency abortion care for all Americans. Rep. Sykes and her team stand ready to serve her community. Residents of Ohio’s 13th Congressional District are encouraged to reach out to Rep.
