Congresswoman Sykes' Judge James R. Williams Post Office Bill Passes the House

This week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Congresswoman Sykes' bill to rename the post office at 675 Wolf Ledges Parkway in Akron as the “Judge James Williams Post Office Building.” The bill now heads to the Senate for consideration. Judge Williams lived an impressive and meaningful life that continues to impact Ohio’s 13th District through his life’s work as a Civil Rights leader, judge, scholar, and veteran. He attended the University of Akron and was one of the first Black students to graduate from the university school of law before spending nearly 30 years serving Akron and Summit County as a U.S. Attorney and judge. Judge Williams was a legal luminary and a visionary who paved the way for generations to come. Congresswoman Sykes is proud to lead the effort to rename the Wolf Ledges Post Office to honor his memory and enmesh his legacy into the fabric of our community.
