The WTF Show: Cuts to Medicaid

Congresswoman Sykes went live on Instagram for the WTF Show to talk about the harmful effects of the House of Representatives’ budget resolution, which will be on the House Floor next week and that includes hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts to Medicaid. Medicaid is a joint program between federal and state governments, and it covers health costs for low-income children, pregnant women, and people with disabilities, long term care for older adults, and foster children. In Ohio’s 13th Congressional District alone, there are more than 200,000 people enrolled in Medicaid. Any cuts to Medicaid would have far reaching effects on our local economy as hospital systems are the district’s largest employers. Without a reliable funding source these hospitals may be forced to layoff employees, putting our friends and neighbors out of work and devastating our local economy.
