Rep. Sykes Connects With Stark County Leaders In Canal Fulton Aboard St. Helena III Canal Boat
CANAL FULTON, OH —Yesterday, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) met with elected leaders from Canal Fulton, Lawrence Township, and Plain Township, as well Stark Parks staff, aboard the St. Helena III Canal Boat to learn about the Towpath Trail and discuss issues most important to residents in Stark County.
“As your member of Congress, it’s important for me to know what’s important to you, your family, and our community,” said Rep. Sykes. “During this tour, I was able to discuss with Stark County leaders ways we can expand opportunity, improve the safety of our communities, and deliver meaningful results for the people of Stark. I look forward to continuing to hold conversations like these across Ohio’s 13th Congressional District, so all our communities are better connected to Congress.”
“We appreciate Congresswoman Sykes for taking time away from her busy schedule to come to Canal Fulton to learn about our canal boat and experience firsthand the growth we are seeing. Having representatives from Lawrence Township and Stark Parks allowed us to showcase the collaborative teamwork our communities have exhibited over the years, and as we continue to work together along with our federal officials, we can make Canal Fulton a great destination to live, work, or visit,” said Canal Fulton Mayor Joe Schultz.
“It was quite the privilege for me as a Stark Parks representative to have the opportunity to meet with Congresswoman Emilia Strong Sykes on the St. Helena III canal boat along with our gracious hosts, the City of Canal Fulton. The Congresswoman emphasized her support for Stark County Parks and the local community. Her willingness to stand behind Stark Parks' ambitions to preserve and protect the environment and create amazing recreational opportunities for the residents of Stark County is greatly appreciated,” said Executive Director for Stark Parks Daniel Moeglin.
