Rep. Sykes Issues Statement On President Biden’s Executive Order To Promote Peace, Security, and Stability in the West Bank

WASHINGTON, D.C. —U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) issued a statement following President Biden’s Executive Order to implement new measures to address actions that undermine peace, security, and stability in the West Bank.

“From day one, I have been clear that I condemn acts of violence against civilians, whether they are Israeli or Palestinian,” said Rep. Sykes. “I’m glad President Biden has taken this step to promote the peace and security of both Israelis and Palestinians alike. I’ll continue to advocate for policies that support Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorism, ensure aid reaches Palestinian civilians, and work towards a lasting peace throughout the region.”

This Executive Order will allow the United States to issue financial sanctions against those directing or participating in certain actions, including acts or threats of violence against civilians, intimidating civilians to cause them to leave their homes, destroying or seizing property, or engaging in terrorist activity in the West Bank.
