Rep. Sykes Votes In Favor Of FAA Authorization Extension Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Yesterday, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) voted in favor of H.R. 6503, the Airport and Airway Extension Act of 2023, Part II, bipartisan legislation that extends the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) authorization until March 8, 2024.
“Ohio has a proud legacy as the ‘Birthplace of Aviation,’ and this legislation provides the short-term stability that our airports, airlines, and workers need to protect the integrity of our national airspace,” said Rep. Sykes. “I will continue to work with my colleagues in the House and Senate to ensure that we actually pass comprehensive FAA reauthorization legislation, like H.R. 3935, the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act, which the House passed on a bipartisan basis earlier this year, to keep our skies safe, make our aviation infrastructure cleaner and more sustainable, and support the working people who power the aviation industry.”
Rep. Sykes is the sole Ohioan on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, which has jurisdiction over all modes of transportation, including the U.S. aviation system, highways and bridges, transit and rail transportation, pipelines, and maritime and waterborne transportation. She is also a member of the bipartisan House Aerospace Caucus, which works to maintain U.S. global aerospace leadership, highlight the critical work that organizations and employees perform, engage members and staff on challenges facing the industry, and address legislative issues impacting aerospace.
