Rep. Sykes Attends Japanese Prime Minister Kishida’s Address To Congress With Constituent Bill Melver
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) attended Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s address to a Joint Meeting of Congress. Rep. Sykes was joined by guest Bill Melver, a constituent from west Akron. Melver is a third-generation Japanese American who spent 27 years with the General Electric Company before establishing his management consulting business, Nabeshima International.
“I was pleased to attend Prime Minister Kishida’s address today with my guest, Mr. Bill Melver,” said Rep. Sykes. “Japan is an important economic, diplomatic, and cultural ally to the United States, and I was encouraged to hear the Prime Minister discuss ongoing efforts to bolster this important strategic relationship. By strengthening the defense cooperation between our countries, we can promote peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region, and ensure the United States is prepared to respond to ongoing global challenges.”
