Rep. Sykes Presents $1 Million Check for Barberton Lake Anna Revitalization Project
BARBERTON, OH— On Friday, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) presented a ceremonial check to Barberton Mayor William B. Judge for $1 million in Community Project Funding for the Lake Anna Revitalization Project.
“I’m proud to deliver this funding for the Barberton community to expand upon Lake Anna’s position as a year-round venue for everyday activities and seasonal events,” said Rep. Sykes. “Investing in this staple of downtown Barberton will ensure residents and visitors alike have access to more recreational opportunities in the community.”
“Support for the revitalization of Lake Anna Park helps make necessary upgrades to this gem in our downtown. Lake Anna Park is an integral piece to Barberton’s downtown and is the home of many activities and festivals throughout the year. I appreciate the support and efforts by Congresswoman Sykes in securing this funding for the City of Barberton and Lake Anna Park,” said William B. Judge, Mayor of Barberton.
The City of Barberton will use this funding to construct a new Community Center in the City's Lake Anna Park. In addition to serving as a hub for outdoor recreational opportunities and activities, the project will further connect this vital community resource to the nearby north-south Towpath Trail, and develop east-west Silver Creek Trail, thereby connecting local neighborhoods and neighboring cities into the heart of the city.
The $1 million Lake Anna Revitalization Project is one of the twelve projects totaling more than $14.9 million Rep. Sykes secured in the recently passed 2024 federal spending bill. The other projects included in this funding can be found here.
