Rep. Sykes Hosts OH-13 Emergency Responders Grant Summit With FEMA
TALLMADGE, OH — Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) hosted an OH-13 Emergency Responders Grant Summit at the Summit Emergency Communications Center. The summit brought together local police and fire departments in Ohio’s 13th Congressional District to learn about 2024 federal funding opportunities and how to access additional federal resources to keep our communities safe. Rep. Sykes was joined by FEMA Region 5 Regional Administrator Tom Sivak and Tallmadge Mayor Carol Siciliano-Kilway.
“Firefighters and police officers are champions of our communities, putting their lives on the line every day to protect us. I hosted this summit to connect our local police and fire departments to federal funding opportunities to ensure they have the resources they need to keep our communities safe. I look forward to continuing to host events like these to reconnect Ohio’s 13th Congressional District to Congress,” said Rep. Sykes.
“We’re grateful for this opportunity to share and amplify federal resources available to support local responders in doing the vital work of keeping our communities safe,” said FEMA Region 5 Regional Administrator Tom Sivak. “These grants fund critically needed resources to equip and train emergency personnel, enhance efficiencies and ultimately support community resilience, creating a stronger Ohio and more ready nation.”
The summit provided an overview of technical funding opportunities and deadlines for local emergency responder grant opportunities, including the Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG), Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant, and Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) Grant Programs.
