Rep. Sykes Votes In Favor Of Legislation To Sanction Iran’s Missile And Drone Program

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) voted in support of H.R. 3152, the Fight and Combat Rampant Iranian Missile Exports Act (CRIME) Act, a bipartisan bill to impose sanctions on a wide range of activities supporting Iran’s missile and drone program ahead of the October 2023 expiration of the United Nations’ missile ban on Iran.

“Iran’s refusal to stop developing missiles and drones poses a significant threat to global peace and stability. I’m proud to join my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to pass the Fight CRIME Act, imposing critical sanctions to keep Americans safe and secure,” said Rep. Sykes.

The Fight CRIME Act imposes mandatory property blocking and visa sanctions on anyone involved in the supply, sale, or transfer of, or support for, Iran’s missiles and drones including by:

  1. acquiring or transferring Iranian missiles and drones;
  2. providing Iran or its proxies with items that may contribute to the development of missiles or drones;
  3. participating in joint missile or drone development with Iran or its proxies; and
  4. importing or exporting any restricted missile or drone-related materiel to or from Iran.

The Fight CRIME Act now awaits consideration by the Senate. To learn more about Rep. Sykes’ work protecting the nation and our communities, visit sykes.house.gov/issues/public-safety.
